Annie, The Dead Prostitute of Glasgow

The Scotia, Glasgow’s oldest surviving pub, holds a rich history dating back to 1792. With such a long-standing legacy, there’s no shortage of intriguing tales to uncover.

Among the remarkable stories associated with the Scotia is a 2019 investigation by the Spirit Finders, where they made contact with the spirit of Annie, a long-deceased prostitute. During this eerie encounter, Annie demonstrated her spectral abilities by moving a glass with unseen fingers and making a phone mysteriously ring.

Furthermore, the pub’s manager has recounted ghostly sightings that add to the haunting atmosphere. A young child’s apparition has been spotted playing in a doorway, while a lady in a white wimple is known to favor the snug. A woman dressed in green velvet, on the other hand, is less timid and often parades up and down the pub. These spectral figures make for suitably spooky drinking companions, especially as Halloween approaches. The Scotia’s history is as chilling as it is captivating.
