What Is The Most Popular Pub In Scotland?

What is the most popular pub in Scotland?

It is fitting that the most popular pub in Scotland is a whisky bar, The Malt Room in Inverness. The Malt Room is Scotland’s highest-rated bar with Tripadvisor reviewers and it offers a cozy and friendly atmosphere with a huge range of whiskies to try.

At The Malt Room you can sample a wide range of the finest whiskies, as well as whisky and non whisky cocktails, premium spirits, wines and a choice selection of wines and beers.

The staff is knowledgeable and will happily guide you through the extensive whisky menu, which contains blends and single malts from all the Scotch regions, as well as American bourbon and rye, Irish whiskey and even Japanese whisky.

The Malt Room Story

It all started in an Airbnb in London when Inverness native and bar manager Matt Macpherson visited London, stayingAirbnb London hosted by Alex Hancock.

A shared love for whisky made sure that the two of them quickly became friends. After Matt expressed his frustration one evening, after several whiskies, about the fact there nowhere he could send visitors when they asked for a specialist bar, the pair sensed an opportunity and decided to openfirst (and best) whisky bar in Inverness! The rest as they say are history.

The project soon became a family affair as Alex’s wife Pri, who brought the financial acumen and Matt’s sister Karen, a designer joined the business.

The whisky menu would be central to the bar’s offering bringing  together a wide range of blended and single malt Scotch whiskies from all of Scotland’s whisky regions – Highlands, Lowlands, Speysides, Islays, Campbeltown and Island whiskies, as well as American bourbons and ryes, Japanese whisky and Irish whiskeys. Matt, with his years of experience in bartending would round out the menu with a selection of the finest spirits, whisky (and non whisky) cocktails, wines, beers and ciders.

The vision came to life when a venue was selected at 34 Church Street right in the heart of Inverness city centre, located in a busy thoroughfare and easily accessible by the train station. It turned out that it was the perfect size and gives the bar a sense of cosiness and intimacy which is perfect for a whisky experience.

Another secret ingredient was that Karen was a talented designer and she designed it resting the atmosphere and vibe of the bar that would be fundamental to its success. Using her exceptional skills paired with materials and textures inspired by whisky distilleries, she crafted a space that is both modern yet resonates with whisky tradition.

Once The Malt Room Inverness opened to the public it quickly became a firm favourite amongst Inverness whisky lovers and tourists alike. It also became the Scottish Bar & Pub Awards 2021 Whisky Bar of the Year Winner, a well deserved award.

So make sure you visit The Malt Room, when visiting Inverness
