I need a new bum! Read by The Scottish Granny.
The Scottish Granny is at it again! Her viral video reading Dawn McMillan and Ross Kinnaird’s ‘I Need a New Bum!’ to her grandson, Archer, has been viewed over a million times on YouTube and Facebook. The hilarious tale of a boy who needs a new derriere after discovering his own has a crack in it, is the latest picture book to become a global success thanks to the infectious laugh of Janice Clark.
First published in 2012 by New Zealand-based publisher Oratia Books, ‘I Need a New Bum!’ was acquired and released in the US by Dover Publications 2014 under the name – “I need a New Butt” Jennifer Feldman, the publisher of Dover, explains that the book’s humor made it a perfect fit for their children’s list. “It’s ridiculous the way kids like to be ridiculous” she says.
Before Janice Clark became an internet sensation, weekly print sales of ‘I Need a New Bum!’ we’re in the double digits. However, since the Scottish Granny’s video began to go viral, it has sold over 100,000 copies and Dover Publications have had to keep running back for reprints.
When asked what she thought when her video started getting attention online, Clark said “I thought to myself, if I keep going here I’m going to make everyone a fortune.” So why not join in on the fun and check out the hilarious video yourself? You won’t regret it! And while you’re at it, grab a copy of ‘I Need a New Bum!’ for your little ones. It’s the perfect way to start their day with laughter!
