May and June offer the best combination of long daylight hours, relatively dry weather, and manageable crowds. The heather is not yet in bloom, but the landscape is lush and green after the spring rains.

July and August are the busiest months. The car park regularly fills before 9am, queues form on the narrow path, and you will share the pools with hundreds of other visitors. If you must visit in summer, arrive before 8am or plan an evening visit when day-trippers have left.

September is arguably the finest month for photography. The purple heather is at peak bloom, the light is golden, and crowds drop significantly. Water levels tend to be higher after the August rains, giving the waterfalls more force.

There are toilets at the car park. There is no café or shop on site, so bring your own food and water. The nearest shop is in Carbost, about 15 minutes back towards the main road.
