Edinburgh Castle Ranked Europe’s Best Castle

Online travel company Weloveholidays ranked the continent’s most beloved castles according to the number of five-star reviews they have received online and the number of social media posts they have been mentioned in. 

Edinburgh Castle ranked first with 30,752 five-star reviews on TripAdvisor and 698,000 posts on Instagram, ahead of Prague Castle in second place and the Alhambra in Granada, Spain.

Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany came fourth ahead of Schönbrunn Palace in Austria in fifth place.

Edinburgh Castle boasts as one of the oldest fortified places in Europe. It has a rich history functioning as a royal residence, military garrison, prison and fortress.
