Why is Craigievar Castle pink?

Why is Craigievar Castle pink? – Travelers looking for an enchanting getaway should look no further than Craigievar Castle in Scotland. Located just outside the small town of Alford, the castle is said to have inspired the iconic Cinderella Castle at Disney World. It is a perfect example of classic Scottish Baronial architecture and has been preserved in remarkable condition by its current owners, the National Trust for Scotland.

As part of its ongoing conservation efforts, a seven-storey tall protective pink mesh surrounds the castle. This hue gives visitors an even more magical experience as they explore the grounds and take part in guided tours of the interior. Inside, guests will be transported back in time with beautiful Renaissance works by celebrated Scottish artists, including Sir Henry Raeburn and George Jamesone. The majestic Great Hall also features intricate Jacobean woodwork.

Craigievar Castle can be accessed only by guided tours which take place every 30 minutes or so. After the tour, visitors are free to explore the parkland surrounding the castle. Those wanting to visit other National Trust for Scotland-managed sites can purchase a Discover Ticket which provides access to more than 90 attractions all around Scotland, including Craigievar Castle, Culloden Battlefield, Culzean Castle, and Robert Burns Birthplace Museum.

For those looking for an idyllic destination complete with breathtaking scenery and plenty of history, Craigievar Castle is the perfect spot. Whether you are a fan of Disney or Scottish history, you will find something beautiful and magical at this pink castle.
